Cody and I went camping with two of his friends and their wives for the weekend. We had a great time camping and fishing. We were a little worried it was going to rain a lot but we didn't have any rain until Sunday morning. That made breakfast a little wet but other than that it was beautiful weather...just a little on the cold side. Friday night we tried out the fishing at Lost Lake. It was freezing cold and we didn't catch anything, so we didn't stay too long. As you can see there is still quite a bit of snow o
n th
e ground up there. It didn't feel much like June. The next day we ran out of wood. So the boys had to go gather some and cut it with only a hand saw. It made for some good entertainment! We then went fishing at Trial Lake which we had a lot more success on.
Most of the fish we caught were pretty small. About 8-10 inches long. Cody caught the smallest one, and got teased that he had caught a minnow. We all laughed pretty hard about it. We had to get a close up so that you could see that
it was actually a fish! The fish were also swallowing the hooks pretty deep so there were a few unforeseen casualties that couldn't have been avoided. We tried some CPR and other rescue techniques but the damage had already been done and they were sac
rifices that the lake demanded (name that t.v. show) Cody and I did manage to catch two fish at the exact same time so we had to get a picture of our prize fish. (It should be noted that both of these fish shown were some of the aforementioned sacrifices that the lake demanded) It would have been a perfect day for fishing had the wind not been blowing. It made it pretty cold, and even though the fishing was hot, the girls decided to ch
eck out and then nag us guys until they finally caved in and took them back to camp for some food and heat. The picture depicts smiling, happy females but don't be deceived, they were not happy at this moment in time. Sunday morning before it started raining, Rachelle was the first one out of bed and she did something that ama
zed everyone there. (Cody is still blown away by this miraculous feat that Rachelle accomplished on her own). The picture says it all, she made her own fire, started it and kept it going all on her own. We didn't know she had it in her but she proved otherwise. It sure was a fun camping trip and it was fun to spend time with some of our friends that we don't get to see very often. We will hopef
